Welcome to La Tartaruga

La Tartaruga’s Italian owners, Gabriele and daughter Francesca, and their staff will delight you with their enthusiastic service, offering “Al Fresco” dining on our covered terrace or under the “Cupola” of our teak floor dining room,.

We serve Italian regional appetizers, homemade pasta, fish and rock lobsters, in-house desserts and Gelato.
A full vegetarian menu is available. Herbs are home grown; focaccia is home baked; aged Parmigiano Reggiano, extra vergine olive oil and olives are imported from Italy; while fresh local ingredients are sourced from the best suppliers on the island.

Our Café and the Tobago Heritage Conservation Society exhibits are available during:
Lunch on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, between 12 noon – 3pm close.
Dinner is served Wednesday to Sunday, kitchen open 6pm – kitchen close 9pm.
Reservations are strongly recommended.

Wine Shop & Take Away

Winner of the Wine Spectator’s Award of Excellence every year since 2002. Our Wine list comprises over 200 Italian selections, with strengths in Piedmont, Tuscany, Umbria, Puglia and Sicily. Ask to visit the wine cellar and discover many small vintners producing impressive quality/price bottling.

Prosecco, Grappa, Limoncello, Chocolate liqueur, Porto and wines suitable for wedding and receptions. You can order for Take Away Chocolate Fudge Cake, Tiramisu’, Cheesecakes, beef or vegetarian Lasagne, or choose any of the products imported directly from Italy (Parmigiano cheese, Olive Oil, Balsamic vinegar, Castroni Roma coffee, wine glasses). Delivery is available also to Trinidad.

Our Wine and take away shop is open by appointment (Gabriele 7155465) and during restaurant opening hours.

We love sharing the rich history and heritage of Tobago at the restaurant during the lunch opening hours or by appointment.

Our guests can browse albums with pictures taken during field work at sugar estates; water management systems colonial era such as dam and sluiceways; vintage photos; antique maps; history books; notes from research in the archives as well as details from pre-columbian findings; prepared by Team Members of the Tobago Heritage Conservation Society.

The Conservation project is also a great source for educational purposes and for persons interested to know what Tobago has to offer and to prepare itineraries to explore the seven parishes.
