Featuring a deep ruby color with brownish hues, the Brunello Tenuta Nuova 2003 caresses the palate with plenty of silky-textured dark red cherries, plums, smoke, earthiness and sweet toasted oak. This polished modern-styled wine offers superb balance in a rich, weighty style that will find many admirers. The tannins are remarkably well-integrated, which is quite a feat in this vintage. To be sure, there isn't much of what is called varietal character here but by any definition this is a beautiful wine on an absolute level. Anticipated maturity: 2009-2019. 91 point rating.
Bolgheri Sassicaia 1998, Tenuta San Guido
Lovely, subtle yet complex, the Bolgheri Sassicaia 1998 is expertly blended with cabernet sauvignon 85%, cabernet franc 15% to produce aromas of currants, sage and green olives leading to a full-bodied red with a solid core of fruit and well-integrated tannins. Still very reserved on the finish, but those who are patient should be rewarded. Sassicaia is delicious with refined main courses featuring red meat or game. 94 point rating.

With a bright ruby-garnet color, the Bolgheri Sassicaia 1996 is a blend of Cabernet Franc – Cabernet Sauvignon and is well-structured with plenty of blackberry and dried herb character.  The intense blackberry and cassis aromas, offset by notes of smoke and spice, are confirmed on a palate of lush concentration underscored by firm, ripe tannins carrying into a long, elegant finish. Pairs well with beef and venison.

This dry red wine is an excellent choice to pair with meat and game cuisine.
