Bolgheri Rosso Superiore Ornellaia 1998, Tenuta dell’Ornellaia
Very sophisticated and reserved, the Bolgheri Rosso Superiore 1998 Cabernet Sauvignon blend displays deep ruby-garnet in colour with purple reflections. A cool and sleek Tuscan red, with tarragon and fresh sage aromas, blackberry and cherry undertones. Full-bodied, with a wonderfully silky palate of fine tannins and a long, fruity finish. Great with meat cuisines. 93 point rating.
Bolgheri Sassicaia 1999, Tenuta San Guido
A pretty Sassicaia, bold and structured the Bolgheri Sassicaia 1999 has complex aromas of minerals, berries, tobacco and shells. Blended with a combination of Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon. Full-bodied, with well-integrated tannins and a succulent, refined aftertaste, this wine pairs well with beef and venison. 92 point rating.
Barolo Vigneto Gattera 2011, Mauro Veglio
Fragrant and bright, this Barolo Vigneto Gattera 2011, Mauro Veglio offers aromas of rose, iris, perfumed berry and a balsamic note. The palate is still rather closed, offering raw red cherry, star anise and chopped sage alongside tightly knit tannins and brisk acidity. It still needs time to come together. 90 point rating.
Toscana Tignanello 2019, Antinori
A hearty ruby red, the Toscana Tignanello 2019 is bold and structured, soft and dense with dark cherries, green and black pepper with a hint of hibiscus. Decanted you get notes of plum, fig, and chocolate mousse. Long and harmonious, on the palate the wine is rich and vibrant with silky tannins. Pairs great with grilled steak, roast beef, rack of lamb, lamb shank, osso bucco and sharp cheddar.
Donna Lisa Riserva 2019, Leone De Castris
A wine of an intense red with garnet coloured hints, the Donna Lisa Riserva 2017, Leone De Castris is made of Negroamaro and Malvasia Nera. Rich, intense, smooth on entry with a building structure of zesty acidity and firm tannins. Spice and fruit interplay with a savory herbal note. In the mouth, it is rounded and full with a strong but never intrusive tannin and a long-lasting finish. Very good with roasts and ripe cheese.
Pinot Grigio 2024 Grave Friuli, Doppio Passo
With a bright straw yellow with silver highlights, the Pinot Grigio Grave Friuli 2022 has a medium intensity on the nose, pear, banana and white peach, also reminiscent of yellow flowers. Medium-bodied on the palate, with vivid acidity, a bit chewy and bitter on the finish. This Northern Italy Pinot Grigio wine would be great with aperitif, mushrooms, vegetarian dishes and shellfish.

Angelo Gaja, a legend in his lifetime and the producer of the Gaja Barbaresco 1989 which is expertly blended from 100 percent Nebbiolo grape to provide a bouquet of red fruit. Dry with a satisfying palate, this outstanding red wine is an excellent choice to accompany beef, lamb, game and pasta cuisine.
Langhe Sperss 1997, Gaja
The Gaja Langhe Sperss 1997 is expertly blended from the Nebbiolo grape to provide an earthy and fruity aroma. A superb Sperss, with refined aromas of minerals, flowers, berries and just a hint of mint. Full-bodied and powerful, with chewy tannins and a long berry, cherry and mineral aftertaste. Impressive structure. This red wine is an excellent choice to accompany beef, lamb, game and pasta cuisine. Best after 2005. 2,000 cases made. Gaja was never a great sustainer of the thesis that Barbaresco/Barolo should be 100 per cent Nebbiolo. In the late 1990s, Gaja decided to re-classify his Barolos, Sperss and Conteisa, as Langhe Nebbiolo DOC, which permits an addition of 15% of other grapes recommended or authorized for the province of Cuneo (could be Barbera or Cabernet Sauvignon; Gaja claims the former).

Barolo La Serra 1997, Marcarini
The Marcarini Barolo La Serra 1997 is expertly blended from the Nebbiolo grape. Full-bodied with soft tannins and a fruity, pretty aftertaste. Notes of strawberry, mineral and plum, with hints of mint. Up-front, delicious, well-balanced and round with a velvet texture and fresh acidity, this wine is an excellent choice to accompany beef, lamb, game and pasta cuisine. Better with bottle age.
Barolo Castiglione 1995, Oddero
